Lovely weekend
Tuesday, May 08, 2007

We had a very lovely weekend. Saturday, we saw Spidey which was just pure delight. We were already armed to make it to the Cinco de Mayo parade with Tahnee but a late Friday night makes for a late Saturday morning which led to zero parking in sight come Saturday noon. I've always wanted to watch the Cinco de Mayo parade and see Filipino-looking people (with long and sharp noses) devour the streets of Omaha with their green, white and red flags. But nopersiree. Next year I guess will be THE year. I had to leave Tahnee several messages because she invited us and was really expecting us to make it. She said she was bringing her twins as well (michael jackson before and michael jackson after, she calls them). And I absolutely had wanted to meet them. She then emailed me that she left her phone because of the weather and the twins had to stay home. Maybe just as well. We couldn't have made it back in time for Spidey with the rain and sucky parking.

Come Sunday, we went and saw the airshow at Offutt Airbase. We had to drive all the way to Bellevue, park the car at the Southroads Mall lot to board one of the queued buses in there. Taxpayers' money since everything was for free. I love how your money goes a long way here! Anyway, Joen and I had to sit up front because of his motion sickness. I was so excited for this and when we got there, I knew we were going to have a lovely time. It was soooo cool! Cool in the figurative sense as well as the LITERAL sense. No wet armpits there, what with the wind blowing at 50 mph. We had lunch over gyro and hotdogs, sat on the view area on the tarmac and just munched away as we watched planes mimic the fighting positions of planes from both world wars. The pilots were hilarious. They spoke while they were spinning, dropping, zooming and zigzagging. Crazy people! Finally got inside a Black Hawk chopper. Here are some pics.

Here's a cool video. We took a dozen videos but this one was the most clear and most exciting. The sky acrobats looked too small on the lens.
