Good. Very good movie.

I never thought I'd live to say this but... Daniel Craig IS the best Bond yet. I saw the movie last week when Kuya JJ was here but I never thought all the reviews and feedback would hold water. After all, this is a sun-blond actor with a back problem and eyelashes that make you just want to reach out and apply mascara at. Was I in for a surprise or what. When I first heard about yet ANOTHER Casino Royale movie earlier this year, I told Hoen, "Just how many times do I have to watch this movie? I saw the first two and even that Woody Allen one. Are they running out of ideas??" Apparently not. They wanted a rugged Bond to spar with the rest of the hardcore action movies that just came out. I mean, just how many women does he have to sleep with and no mention of an STD or an HIV test?

Anyway, Daniel Craig, kudos to you. Your eyes did it all. Not your walk, not the off way you were holding the gun on your hand that starts off every bond movie... it was your acting and it was really really good. I hope to see more of you.

** There's a part in the movie where Bond chases his girl. She was wearing red at the time. He runs to the streets, sprints along the sidewalk and misses her. I SAW HER BECAUSE OF HER DRESS so I pointed at the movie screen and went, "Kato! Kato! Didto! Naa siya didto!". It cracked up Kuya JJ and Hoen! Hahaha! All those stories of provincial people pointing at movie screens and screaming at actors? GUILTY AS CHARGED! Now I am a walking anecdote. Hehe.

STOP IT, GWEN!!!

What is up with Gwen Stefani, murdering the yodel from The Sound of Music??? I heard this a couple of weeks ago and I was disgusted by it right off the bat. When I saw her perform the song over and over on late night shows, I was even more appalled at her attempt to ruin one of those songs you just never mess with. It's a classic, it's The Sound of Music for crying out loud. I know she did a sample of Fiddler on the Roof but that should've been enough. What's next? Oz?? Mary Poppins?? Comb your platinum hair and stay away from your classic CD collection!!

SEVEN MORE DIZE!!!

From the Zoo to Mizzou
Monday, December 11, 2006

Things were CRAZY FUN these past few days!! Kuya JJ made it to Omaha from DC last Thursday and after a hearty lunch with some of our friends, we went to the Air Space Museum. We saw planes from WW2 and space capsules and all that. I loved reading the history of it all and took pictures as well. After 2 hours, we went around and shopped for stuff Kuya wanted to give to Pinas. We had dindin at our fave Paradise Bakery. Puyat night no. 1. The next day, after having brunch at Thai Spice we went straight to the zoo where the indoor stuff greatly amazed Kuya JJ. We walked for a straight 3 hours! Hoen and I finally got inside the Lied Jungle, which is the worlds biggest indoor rainforest. The bummer? The Powaw Beaws were asleep. Then we went around the city again and did A LOT of shopping for Pinas for Kuya JJ and for the other peeps. By the time it was 6 pm, we were famished so we showed our quaint downtown to Kuya JJ and then ate at Famous Daves (didn't get to ride the horse-drawn carriage again). We were sooo full! We went around some more after that and went home to pack for our Mizzou trip the next day.

Because we slept late, we also woke up late so that by 9 am, we were still having breakfast at McDo. Ate Joyce already called Hoen up on the phone, saput and all because she didn't want to be the only "guest" in the Taylor household. Hehe. Anyway, after the 3 hour drive, we had an indescribably yummy lunch at Tita Belen's. Her soup was a combination of pochero and sinigang without the guilt. That soup was my main course! Of course, istorya galore dugay kaayo that we had to drag our asses to the mall. We did more going around so that Kuya JJ can find stuff to buy and of course, Ate Joyce as well. Uncle Jim, Tita Belen,Queen, her bf Alex, Ate Joyce, Kuya JJ, Hoen and I went around. We walked around for a couple of hours before heading to this lovely spanish resto called La Bodega. Their empanada and wrapped dates were TO DIE FOR! Sobra gyud kalami, dili ma-describe! Uncle Jim's fave place so that says a lot about the food. We ordered 4 paellas all around and so we needed some much needed walking. So we went around the famous Kansas City plaza much to Ate Joyce's content. Hehe. We walked, took pictures and we were home by 10-ish. We did the usual at the house- EAT and TALK. Tita Belen's muffins melted my palate but so did her apple strudel. Lami lami lamiiiii. I could feel my bitoks doing the monkey dance. Hehe. The next day, we had brunch at home over Tita Belen's turkey bacon, ham and eggs and we just wanted to sink in our chairs. Hehe. We went to church late after then went around the Indepence Mall for some last chance shopping for Kuya JJ. We ate at Smokehouse BBQ sans Uncle Jim at around 3 pm. Hoen finished his plate of ribs, fries and other sinful things but we still got to box some leftovers for Omaha. We said our byes to Alex, Queen and Tita Belen and the three Moreno siblings and myself were in our car. We dropped Ate Joyce off at the KCI for her 7 pm flight. We had 3-hour drive to go so we had to leave as well. The ride was nice, the sun was setting so the sky was beautifully orange.

Back home, we helped Kuya JJ pack, I did my first round of abs since 4 days ago and had our leftover dinner. Hoen and Kuya JJ went to Walmart to get some chocolates for Pinas and as usual, we talked and talked until the wee hours of the morning. He left back to DC this morning and will be leaving for Cebu tomorrow 11 am.

NOW Hoen and I can focus on getting everything ready for our Pinas trip. We are both excited and we can't believe.... NINE MORE DAYS!!! Yippee!! After one crazy fun vacay, we are looking forward to yet another crazy fun vacay. Hehe.

I had a bigass (pun intended) hemorrhoid these past few days. It started last week, Thursday. I probably ate something when I constipated on each of the three times I took a dump. I noticed my friggin asshole swell and welp, there it was. That varicose vein in my butt. The last hemorrhoid I had was probably 25 years ago? I had a little one this year but it was more like a false alarm. I have always been a sprint dumper. One minute I'm there, the next minute I'm done. Defecating was never a problem for me. Doing it twice a day was considered normal. I guess it's because I have a fair amount of fiber in my diet. Anyway, I treated it well... cleaning it well with warm water, applying ice on it, creaming it with PrepartionH ointment... I did all that except NOT SIT. Haha! I finally saw a doctor last Monday and she devirginized my uncharted regions. She stuck her finger in, flicked it inside, turned it around but she didn't do the hokey pokey. She said I was lucky it didn't hurt or bleed and she just gave me a prescription for an ointment with a steroid to take care of the swelling and for some tucks pads.

Now, it's still there but it has shrunk a great deal since last Thursday. It's taking too damn long though. Maybe it's because I keep on sitting down and working out. Hehe.

Pack this, pack that!
Monday, December 04, 2006

These past few days have been quite busy and hectic for both Hoen and I. We went and bought stuff needed for Kuya JJ's visit this Thursday. We bought an inflatable bed, the pump, guest towels, etc. We also bought stuff needed for our much anticipated trip in a little over than 2 weeks. We bought new luggages, storage stuff, bubble plastics, last minute pasalubongs and whatnot. When we got home, we did some preliminary packing. We also called up United Airlines and clarified a few things regarding our luggage weight considering we'll be taking Asiana Air from LA to Korea then Cebu. We have to be picky with what we bring because from how things look, our combined luggage size is just enough for all our stuff. Good thing we took care of some of that with our Balikbayan box 2 months ago. We tried putting my gown and slip inside Hoen's huge Samsonite case and it does fit. I guess we'll just leave it in Missouri when we go there this weekend.

Also, since it's year-end, I did some general cleaning/disposing of our fridge and our medicine cabinet. I would hate the thought of having to do that when we get back next year (puhon2). I didn't buy too much winter stuff because we're escaping it for 3 weeks. Hehe.
