Da baby turns Terdy

Last Monday, the life of my love celebrated his 30th birthday.
I had plans for the day to surprise him. Read: HAD. This was what happened.

The plan was to drop him off the office after having lunch at home, rush back home and bake a cake, pick him up in the office, have a sumptuous dinner at Bonefish Grill, walk around then go back home for my "Surprise" cake for dessert. The eve of his birthday, I asked him why he won't avail of his birthday leave. He shoved this idea aside for a while but I guess despite having big eyes, my puppy-dog eyes came out and melted his heart. He decided
to take the afternoon off. I was happy to be spending the day with him! But it was only a few minutes after that I realized, if we're going to be together during the afternoon, how can I bake my cake??? So I thought to myself, "Just wake up real early in the morning, bake the darned cake and have it for lunch instead." Good idea!.... NOT. Hoen decided to stay up until 3 am to do some research stuff for the house so I stayed up with him. After he woke up at 7:45 am, I reset the alarm to 9 so that I could start baking. You guessed it, woke up at 11 oclock instead! After all, 3 am plus 8 hours is... HOH WELL. I guess no cake for today.

So we went to N
FM, bought that grill and coffee table ottoman we've been eying, went to Westroads to see Aida (who invited us to her wedding this August) then proceeded to Bonefish Grill. Now, don't be fooled by the "casual" name. The place was actually gorgeous, a bit more formal than it sounded and the food was oooohh soooo gooood!!! Quite simply the best halibut I've ever had! Their pan style sauce was a dreamer! I had already called them up to bring up some dessert with candles for Hoen which was funny because Hoen kept asking me to "Check daw if they have any birthday birthday stuffies... basin pa diay naa." How can I ask THAT question to our server right in front of him when I've already made the phone call??? Hmmm... think brain, think. Good thing my mom called and talked to Hoen. So I stood up and walked to the hostess and PRETENDED to ask whether or not they had a birthday "goodie" when in fact, I went up to ask her if everything was set. She said it was and that our server, David, already knows. So when I went back, I had to tell my hopeful hubby "Payfee, they don't have any birthday goodie" which might have disappointed him a bit for all I know. Hehe. So we devoured our calamari, finished AAALL the yummy crispy bread, dove in our main courses and we were just STUFFED TO THE NECK! That was really good food! After clearing the table, David then came back with a slice of Key Lime Pie on the tray and with three candles lit (just as I instructed) on 'em saying, "Happy 30th Birthday, man." Hoen smiled. Awww. I could tell he really didn't expect that. Hehe.

After that, we walked around Borsheim's, "oooh'd and aaaahh'd" and then went back home to ... watch Heroes! It was quite a lovely day. =)
