Amoebiapiss!

My mom got hospitalized two weeks ago because of... you guessed it, amoebiasis. But because she has diabetes and a heart problem, the stupid nurses in the ER IMMEDIATELY thought, "Stroke! Mild stroke!" Because she got to the ER at around midnight, their cardiologist had to be called from home while a trigger-happy intern went and did a CT Scan. My dad tried to persuade them to check her digestive system first because she has had loose bowel movement a couple of hours before. While they were in there treating her with ONLY her diabetes in her mind, my dad knew they being pre-emptive but he did not want to tell them they were wrong either, in case complications arose because of her condition.
The day next, her loose bowel was gone and so was her fever but she had to be dextrosed. My dad then told their doctor that in his gut, he knew it was only amoebiasis and to check her stool. Hours and hours later, he was right. It was just the popular and annoying parasitic one-celled protozoa of the order Amoebida. The culprit? Some 2-day-old spaghetti they ate which they thought was just a day old. Good to know my mom recovered pretty well and swore to triplecheck food expiration before putting anything in her mouth.
