Baby Talk Deciphered
Thursday, November 16, 2006

I saw this episode on Oprah last week and her guest was this woman who could interpret baby language. She grew up knowing she had photographic memory with sound so that even in school, she didn't have to take notes because she remembered everything the teacher said. She had a baby and she then deciphered each sound her baby was making. She narrowed it down to five distinct sounds for babies from 0 to 3 months. Before going to Oprah, she had a control group of 1,000 babies and the results were amazing. Even in a room of 10 crying and wailing babies, she was able to decipher each sound and made the entire room quiet with nothing but amazement from the mothers.

Anyway, here are the 5 distinct sounds and their corresponding meanings:

1) NEH = Hungy
NEEEEH = I'm reall hungry!
2) OWH = I'm sleepy
3) HEH = Discomfort
4) EAIR = Lower Gas
5) EH = Burp Me!

I kept a file on these sounds to use them when we have kids. Hehe. Hope it works!
