Hackneyed Hockey?
Tuesday, November 07, 2006

I saw my first Hockey game 2 weeks ago. One of Hoen's officemates has been playing Samaritan with his tickets to his officemates and just leaves them on the table for whoever wants to take them 2 Fridays ago, Hoen took two tickets. The game was between UNO (University of Nebraska in Omaha) and ______. UNO won but that's not what made me happy. I was happy because it was my first Hockey game. I was happy because the game was so fast and so physical, I was waiting for a nosebleed to happen. I was happy because during the halftime break, kids no more than 5 years old were on the rink playing Hockey with their cut sticks and oversized shirts and helmets. They looked so cute trying to goal the puck when half the time they were slipping, sliding with their faces landing on the ice. Believe me, not one kid cried. They were obviously having fun!

When Hoen and I have a son, I would want him to try Hockey. And, bato-lata and tubig-tubig, of course. Hehe. This Friday, we're watching another hockey game c/o First Date and not anymore Mr. Samaritan. It will be between two semi-pro teams this time so it should be bloodier. Wishing for a nosebleed still!
